The long-postponed R3TT session in Genting finally saw light with some 15 cars and 20 enthusiastic drivers and passengers navigating the twisty Genting route. The convoy which was made up of half a dozen Satria R3s, SGTis, Satria, Satria Neo, BMW E34, “Hachi” AE86 and Honda Civic, congregated at Project station before the turnoff to Karak. Somewhat missing in action from the convoy was Luke in his new Stage 3 Satria. Luke had missed the meeting point but joined the petrolhead party at Starbucks later on. STR team-mate Stanley also missed the convoy but joined TT afterwards.
The drive up was spirited but civilsied, led by Fai’s Hachi. A few of us had big unexpected, oversteery moments going up. Rusty (SGTi), Epi (SR3) and I did an ‘accidental tandem drift’ at one of the hairpin-like blind corners. My passengers and I were surprisingly very cool throughout - with what might have been my biggest ever oversteer moment. The rear end was inches from the drain and concrete wall! The rear Bridgestones were complaining before I countersteered and powered out of the slide, then regaining traction. No other unexpected moments from then on except for mild understeer.
The mist was building up just as we reached the top. Visibility was limited to a couple of metres.

The journey down, despite the crawl due to mist initially, gradually become more spirited. The front runners were chasing down a Skyline! Absolutely mad! Luke’s Stage 3 ran out of fuel (he survived to tell the tale afterwards, hah!), fortunately close to the petrol station at the base. The route down was fast and fun. Most of the cars later congregated after the Karak toll before dispersing, tired but happy!

Fast and furious fun on the way down!
