Pseudo-Touge to Genting Proton Satria Neo : Desire Has A New Name

The long-awaited (and long delayed) successor to everyone’s favourite Proton 2-door hatchback, the Satria (and its performance version the Satria GTi) is expected to be launched very soon. Powered by the 82kW Lotus-developed S4PH 1.6-litre as well as 1.3-litre CamPro lump (also found in the low-end Gen.2), the 2-door sports hatch will be the second replacement model for Proton’s aging product line-up after the Savvy.

Numerous spy-shots of the SRM have been available all over the web since last year and from the looks of things - the terms “cool”, “sexy”, “sporty” seem to be closely associated with the car. TUV certification should instill confidence in the product to potential buyers, much like the Savvy has demonstrated, with better build quality overall.

Proton has moved away from using Malaysianised names like Tiara, Satria, Wira in the case of the Savvy and the SRM will be no different. Want a clue of what it’s going to be called (if you don’t know already…), think Matrix. :)

Catch the teaser campaign over at Desire.com.my. If the dashboard design is anything to go by, things are likely to be ‘interesting’. Stay tuned!

My question is - “How would the R3 version look like?”
